Review: Man Boobs

What Causes Man Boobs In The First Place?

There are two main reasons for man boobs. Man boobs can develop when you carry around excess weight. The only way to deal with this is to lose weight overall. To achieve this you will have to start an exercise regimen and change your dietary habits. You have to reduce the amount of calories you consume, and increase the amount of calories you burn.

Weight vs Man Breasts

If you are not overweight, but still have man boobs, then you may have a condition called gynecomastia. This is a hormonal condition that occurs when there is increased estrogen in the body that results in abnormally large mammary glands in males.

Gynecomastia is not in itself harmful, but it can indicate that there is something else going on within the body. It can be caused by taking certain types of medication, or as a result of testicular cancer. If you do notice a sudden increase in your man boobs, go to the doctor and get checked for testicular cancer. In both cases you need to get the advice of a medical professional. Anti-estrogen medication is available to combat the raised levels of estrogen in the body.

gynecomastia can manifest itself in many ways, and can cause psychological difficulties in some men. It can result in puffy nipples, which is the most common form. This also appears in many adolescent boys, but usually this disappears as they move into adulthood. As many as 30-60% of young boys can have some form of this, and although it can cause embarrassment, it is not harmful, or long lasting.

A Biological Analysis

In adults gynecomastia is made up of glandular tissue and may also contain fibrous and adipose tissue. Sometimes one breast can grow to be larger than the other. This is called asymmetric gynecomastia. As men grow older, their skin loses its elasticity and the man boobs can sag from the abundance of skin.

If you do have man boobs, see a medical professional to determine why. If it is due to obesity then there are steps you can take to fix the problem. If it is gynecomastia, then you may need to be tested to make sure there isn’t anything more serious going on. Once it has been diagnosed there may be medication available that can help you balance your estrogen and testosterone levels and get rid of your man boobs.
